THE HOPE IN THE CITY LUNCHEON

benperrinThe 5th Annual 2009 Hope In The City Luncheon at the Marine Drive Golf Club raised over $70,000 through corporate support, ticket sales, an extraordinary silent auction, and, an exciting live auction.

The HITCL event affords a unique opportunity for community and corporate contacts to profile and promote their products and services to over 200 influential attendees, while giving back to The Salvation Army. Click here to see event photos.

Telus was the presenting sponsor.

Benjamin Perrin, Assistant Professor at the UBC Faculty of Law and the founder of The Future Group (a Canadian-based non-governmental organization dedicated to combating human trafficking and the child sex trade), delivered an information packed presentation on both the local and national impact of human trafficking on our society today.

Timea Nagy (human trafficking survivor) was also profiled in a never before seen profile video. Click here to see the video.

The proceeds of the Luncheon have been designated towards The Salvation Army’s Human Trafficking Program to serve women, men and children in BC who are entrapped and shamed into a dangerous life of sexual slavery, drug addiction and debt bondage.

The Salvation Army has been serving individuals in BC who are victims of modern day slavery for over a century, but in recent years their numbers have increased. The trafficked victims arrive at our doors  requiring immediate assurance that they will be safe and will receive professional and caring long-term rehabilitation.
