Private Member’s bill to be tabled in House of Commons January 29, 2009
Winnipeg MP Joy Smith is trying to affect legal change in how we sentence criminals convicted of human trafficking. In Canada, we give them 5 years. In the USA, they give them at least 20 years! How are we supposed to discourage this heinous crime if our legal system doesn’t provide heavy sentences? READ MORE

On November 25th, consider the women that suffer in Vancouver as you celebrate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Many of Vancouver’s prostitutes that work Vancouver’s notorious downtown eastside are victims of human trafficking—addicted to drugs and psychologically demoralized, these women are forced to work as sex slaves to pay for their drug habits. They are held under drug and debt bondage by violent pimps and gangs. They are victims of human trafficking. Remember to pray for them on November 25th.

The Salvation Army in British Columbia is excited to kick-off their 2008 campaign, “The Truth Isn’t Sexy”, a campaign to raise awareness of the atrocities of human trafficking that exist in Vancouver. The campaign will consist of vivid outdoor transit shelters and billboards throughout the Vancouver area, print and radio advertising, as well as a moving TV public service announcement.
