Greater Vancouver’s sex trade of illegal brothels, massage parlours, escort agencies and strip clubs is fueling an international billion dollar illegal sex industry that exploits women and children worldwide. Although the sex trade is understood as an age-old industry, new methods of exploitation and abuse have allowed traffickers to organize a ring of criminal activity as sophisticated as the drug trafficking trade. In the opinion of some people, human trafficking is considered more profitable than drug trafficking, as human sex slaves can be purchased and sold multiple times daily.

While some believe human trafficking is an international problem contained to the third world, the truth is that Canada is an active player in the supply and demand of the industry.
